Catch Ya Next Week!

I'm wrapping up here at the workroom so I can head on out to Las Vegas tomorrow! I'll be attending the Vision '11 Window Treatments Expo. On Thursday morning I am attending a "Super Session" conference all about workrooms. I can't wait!

The workroom has seen some great improvements lately. The most exciting is our new art. I will be posting more when I get back but here is a sneak peek.

Cabin Fever

This weekend we spent a few days in the mountains. We stayed at a very traditional log-cabin style home in Helen, Georgia. We had a blast making s'mores, riding ATV's, and playing pool. And the view was terrible (see pic below.)

During our trip, Jason and I got to talking about our imaginary second home. We were both in agreement we'd love a second home with a look and feel totally different from our primary residence. For me (and especially if it were in the middle of the woods) I would love an ultra-modern home. Since I am also mildly-obsessed with modular housing, I think I found the perfect house. This would be my ideal oasis in the woods:

Recent Project

Who wouldn't want white linen panel draperies? Here are some photos from a recently completed project. I was really happy with the way the Roman/London shade turned out in the bathroom area of this master bedroom suite.

Mirrored Walls...

Is this what you think when I say "mirrored wall"?

uglyhousephotos.com

I will let you make your own wise cracks about the above photo. I was more thinking along the lines of these designs...

Artwork over the mirrored wall:

A horizontal design:

Kevin's Sharkey on MarthaStewart.com

Floor-to-ceiling window-type moulding:

Mercury:
Elle Decor

Mirror on mirror (and again, more moulding):

A modular design:

Any ideas for DIY mirrored wall projects?

Viva Las Vegas!

I can't believe it's already April! This month my husband turns 32, I have jury duty, and we hope to get Joey potty trained. Also this month, I'm headed to Vegas! There is a yearly window treatments trade show that is usually hosted in Atlanta. Can you believe that thousands of people actually gather with the common interest of curtains?! Neither can I (but I will also admit that when I attended last year I was like a kid in a candy shop.)

Here is a photo from last year's trade show in Atlanta. The cute blonde with me is Carole Bruce, who owns our sister company in the Boston area.

In addition to meeting saying hello to my favorite vendors and meeting new ones, I will be attending a "super seminar" all about workroom operations. It's not like to you can get a masters degree in "Workroom Operations" so classes like these are invaluable. It's all about getting as much information as you can, and finding what works best for you in your own shop. I can't wait!

Anyone with a good Vegas story they can share?

Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Melissa of JeNeSeQua! She is the winner of the Taylor Galen Workroom pillow giveaway hosted by High Gloss Blue. Melissa describes her blog as "outlet for me to express my fondness for all things french, living life to the fullest, and trying to inspire my readers to dream (big or small)!" I am very happy she won the pillows and very happy I found my way to her little piece of the Internet.

Melissa took these lovely photos after receiving her pillows in the mail. (They made it all the way from Atlanta to Seattle!) I'm glad that she, and her pooch Jackie O., are enjoying their new home decor accessories!
