In Las Vegas we stayed at beautiful hotel called Vdara. I loved it! The interior of Vdara was designed by Karim Rashid. You have definitely seen his work before...

Rashid designed the Dirt Devil Kone vacuum.

He also has a really cool line of plastic furniture.

Below are a few photos of our room.
The roman shades were motorized with a switch on the wall.

Rashid's style is extremely futuristic and modern. Although it is a very interesting style, I usually try to find inspirational photos for my readers with a more practical style. It was a challenge but I found some wonderful work by Rashid that is a little more applicable to everyday living.

Can you believe that this piece of art designed by Karim Rashid is actually a radiator?!

I did not expect to be so inspired by interior design in Las Vegas!

Where do you go for inspiration?

Back From Las Vegas

I'm back from the Vision '11 Window Coverings Expo in Las Vegas! The trip was great. I enjoyed touring the hundreds of booths and I took a class all about workrooms. It was a drapery nerd's paradise! Below is a photo of me about to enter the expo.

I will not bore you with all the details of my booth visits or workroom class. Don't you want to hear more about partying and gambling? I did not do much of either but we visited several casinos, including the trendy Cosmopolitan. There are no words to express how over-the-top the place is. It was truly amazing. One thing I noticed at The Cosmopolitan was the use of drapery hardware and techniques for applications other than window treatments.

Check out these poles and grommets. The grommets are spaced very far apart and create a dramatic wave.

Ripplefold drapery was used to create an enormous modern light fixture. There were hundreds of these in the casino. They were absolutely gorgeous. I also suspect they are great for noise absorption.

With such a fantastic casino, lobby, and lounges I was curious about what the rooms at The Cosmopolitan look like. Here are some photos:

I am dying for the blue and white coverlet at the end of the bed.

We stayed at Vdara which was also lovely. I will post about it later this week.

What is your favorite hotel?
